Abstract:
According to several conclusions of scientific studies, climate change is likely to increase the incidence and severity of crisis events in the future. The general public has some knowledge of what is happening in this area, but may not understand the urgency and importance of action to fight the effects of climate change. It is necessary to educate society about the possible consequences of climate change and ways of protection, mitigation and adaptation. In Slovakia, the issue of mitigation and adaptation to the effects of climate change, in terms of education, is still only marginally addressed. The authors are therefore interested in examining the current situation of education in the world and looking for examples of good practice that is appropriate and effective to apply across the spectrum of different groups of beneficiaries (children, students, adults, pensioners, etc.) in Slovakia. At the same time, the article points out appropriate approaches to making scientific results accessible to the general public so that they are easier to understand and people can adopt recommanded measures more effectivily.
