Abstract:
This paper presents an innovative healthcare learning system, abbreviated as COHEALS and accessible via a mobile device and Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) technology, that can present the appropriate medical equipments usage video(s) to the learners. With such system, learners can retrieve and reuse the usage experiences in form of visual aids rather than a technical manual. In this way, the learning process can potentially be more stimulating and fun. Based on the unique identification of RFID technology, learners can equip an RFID-enabled mobile device to read the tagged-objects; and hence the relevant videos (illustrating how to use the tagged medical equipments) are displayed. Also, the safety precautions of such equipments are shown within the video so as to ensure the users’ safety. A system prototype has been developed and tested by ten medical professional trainees who responded with positive comments on the usefulness of such a context-aware support and learning tool. Keywords:
