Abstract:
The purpose of the article is to examine the importance of cultural education, to assess the significance of proverbs and adages in learning English as a second or foreign language and, to pinpoint the learner’s perspective on the subject. To accomplish these goals, the following tasks were stated: to explain the role of proverbs and adages on cultural education; to describe their function in language acquisition; to undertake a thorough practical analysis. The following methods were required to complete the tasks. Scientific and methodological literature was reviewed, information sources were evaluated. To achieve the research objectives, a quantitative research method was utilized. A questionnaire sampling survey was conducted to collect data. The research survey was completed remotely in September and October of 2021.

Proverbs are an essential part of the English language and have been utilised to transmit folk wisdom, information, and life experiences from the beginning of time till today. Learners can comprehend the function of conceptual metaphor, literalness, continuity, context and, subtext thorough proverb comprehension and interpretation.

The research findings allow us to deduce the students’ attitude towards proverbs and adages in learning English as a second or foreign language.
