Abstract:
Students usually have some difficulties to understand some topics and concepts of under-graduation disciplines, especially in the beginning of the course. Some of those difficulties are related about the understanding how some physical structures react while submitted to an axial strain or how to represent forces based in an inclined plan stress; and how to represent such situations using vectors. Seeking improvements of the activities in the classroom with the disciplines such as analytical geometry, physics and mechanics of materials, due to the large conceptual charge in classes and the consequent shortage of applications in the disciplines learned this ongoing work seeks to further develop interaction between the students and concepts of such disciplines through information and communication technologies. The objective is to create a software based on an open-source game engine and tridimensional models in which students will be able to solve real problems, creating an interactive environment in which the student have freedom to create structures and perform simulations. The expected result is students had better understanding of theorical concepts and are able to apply them in practical applications, since the game engine applies algorithms of physical efforts into the proposed structure in a way that student would do experimentation with the structure and how it reacts in several kind of situations. This work presents the software proposal, its structure and the game engine mechanisms used in the development. As an application example, it was built in the proposed software an exercise that aims to explain concepts such as stress, load capacity and tension distribution by simulating trusses structures by means of the method displacements.
