Abstract:
Mechatronics and robotics are fields of technical science indispensable in the manufacturing industry, regardless of its specificity.

The Mechatronics study program started in 2009, while Robotics started in 2015 at Lucian Blaga University in Sibiu. Since then, the teaching staff involved in the two programmes has continually tried to improve their attractiveness among high school graduates, potential candidates.

The area around Sibiu is a very develop one by an industrial point of view, requiring yearly a large number of graduates of engineering specializations.

The problems encountered by both above-mentioned study programmes is that both have started recently and as a result, are little known among high-school graduates.

To increase the awareness and attractiveness of these specializations, the work presented in this paper proposes different types of extracurricular activities to familiarize the high-school graduates with these domains.

An example would be the organization of events in which the pupils can interact with the equipment within the laboratories of the Engineering School directly, by using different mechatronic stands, which were specifically designed for this purpose.

Another example, in the field of robotics, would be the organization of student competitions with robot in which high-school graduates can join both as spectators and as well as participants.
