Abstract:
Teaching History is not easy, you have to be impartial, to present past events, to recreate the whole concept of an era, to make the students believe that they are part of the History you present them. A good Teacher of History must know how to relate to persons, events, writings and archeological evidences from the past, in order not to alter them. However, the using of images in this process is not easy, because you have to find the correct images of what you decide to teach. A wise man said that an image values a thousand words, so teaching History is more profound when the teacher use images, photos and videos to describe events from the past. On thing is to describe the Pyramids from Egypt and another thing is to present images and short documentaries from the site, the visual impact is much greater. The aim of this paper is to present the use of images and short videos in the process of teaching History. The students will be delighted from the help of this visual presentation and they will be encouraged to make themselves short videos, with their own cameras or mobile phones, in order to reenact events and characters from the past. Another purpose of using images and videos in education is to encourage the imagination and creativity of the students. Imagination and creativity is very important in the modern education, so the using of media in presenting History values a lot, both for teachers and students. On the final part of this paper will we presented the benefits of a modern education, based on using media and videos in teaching History. Keywords:
