Digital transformation is changing our society, influencing the way we produce and consume products, service and communication. The emerging productive system is constantly increasing its complexity informed by digital technologies and need highly educated professionals to face present challenges. Within this context, Cultural and Creative Industries have been largely affected by new information and communication technologies (e.g. internet) adapting and modifying their structure, channels, processes and relation with the audience. Fashion and its complex supply chain represent an emblematic sector where cultural, social, and productive issues converge and need to be addressed. New competences are requested to adapt flexibility to the rapidly changing and highly interconnected world and manage multifaceted problems such as the intricate fashion supply chain or the design of seamless omnichannel experiences. In particular, there is a need to overcome the specialization of disciplines which characterize the past decades and focus on the interplay between different disciplines, which can enrich the process and enable innovation. The Interdisciplinary approach to tackle contemporary issues enables to break down the barriers of disciplinary silos and enlarge the perspective.

If on one side digital technologies are fully embedded in the way people live and work, yet on the other side they are not entirely exploited in the education system. Universities are seizing the opportunities of the digital age to support the process of knowledge-transfer by researching new model and approaches and moving from a frontal lecture model to active and blended learning one. While working on the shift of models, growing attention is given to Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs) as one of the main online tools to drive computer-mediated material and activities outside the classroom.

The paper draw on an ongoing research carried out through the European co-funded project “DigiMooD for CCIs – Digital modules of didactic for cultural and creative industries” which focus on the development and test of a set of innovative and hybrid educational modules on digital entrepreneurship in Cultural and Creative industries, with a focus on Fashion sector.

The paper will introduce the interdisciplinary approach to the design of the MOOCs and educational modules and how those are harmonized and integrated into the current study structure.
