Abstract:
Audio Technologies is a relatively new field in academia, however it is expanding rapidly, introducing studies on branches such as sound design, post-production, music information retrieval, musical application design, acoustics & psychoacoustics, computer / electronic music, digital instrument design etc.

Started in 2013, the Audio Technologies Graduate Program in Bahcesehir University (Istanbul) bases its education on the three main phases of music production: Recording & Editing, Mixing (in stereo) and Audio Mastering. A thorough understanding of the physics of sound and its application on acoustics, analog & digital audio is required to achieve successful results in these steps. After the core of the curriculum is completed, the student will have gained an understanding of the basic qualities of musical production and the needs of the industry. With the aid of this basis, the student can proceed to her/his chosen field of expertise.

A model for Audio Technologies graduate level education will be presented which includes the above approach on must courses as well as the number of students in one course, the necessary lab & studio conditions and hands on practice calendar for students.
