Such methods of teaching as case study and role play are widely-used tools in contemporary teaching practices, thus this fact determines the topicality of the paper. At the same time, the novelty of the present paper consists in the attempt of integration of these two practices into a single teaching tool in order to enhance language acquisition. The general purpose of the paper is to analyze the advantages of the integration in order to prove that such approach contributes to the efficiency of language acquisition. Thus the author of the article focuses on such issues as the particular skills developed with the help of the innovative teaching tool, the methodology of choosing the necessary content for the new format, the steps in enforcing the technique and the procedure of outcome monitoring. All theoretical propositions in the article are backed and illustrated through the author’s first-hand experience of teaching English as a second language at State University Higher School of Economics, Moscow, Russia.
