Abstract:
This paper provides a review of an attempt to develop an adaptive educational system for learning Kadazandusun language. The Kadazandusun language is one of the languages taught in Universiti Malaysia Sabah (UMS). Although, notes are readily available and provided by the lecturer, students need to learn on their own pace. Therefore, a personalised learning system may be useful to support students in their learning activities. The proposed system is modelling the ability of a teacher in adapting their student learning ability. It is able to adapt to the presentation of learning materials according to individual student learning ability. It updates student’s profile (knowledge level) and suggests learning path suitable for the learner. The system can be used to supplement traditional classroom teaching methods and as an assisting tool to enhance teaching and learning process of the language.
