Abstract:
This paper outlines the development and evaluation of a Kadazandusun Toun 5 multimedia system being developed in School of Engineering and Information Technology, Universiti Malaysia Sabah (UMS). The KadazanDusun language is one of the languages taught in UMS and is a language communicated by the largest indigenous group in Sabah, Malaysia. The development of the Kadazandusun multimedia system is based on the primary 5 textbook and the targeted learners in the school are of Kadazandusun ethnic origins. Instructors can use the system as an interactive multimedia designed unit of instruction to supplement traditional classroom teaching methods. A group of Kadazandusun level 1 learners of Centre for the Promotion of Knowledge & Language Learning (PPIB) were asked to evaluate the system after learning the basic of the language for one semester. The result shows that the system is useful, easy to use and has interesting visuals.
