Abstract:
The paper deals with a new possibility and challenge in the field of practical preparation for first aid in university studies in the field of rescue services. It points out the advantages and ways of cooperation between the university and the largest humanitarian volunteer organization. Based on many years of experience in cooperation with the University of Žilina and the Red Cross, it describes the course and contribution to teaching and positive motivation of students studying the emergency services department. The beginning of the cooperation was created by connecting existing educational subjects, specifically Pre-medical first aid and first aid courses offered by the Red Cross, the territorial association of Žilina. Through his experience and professional education, the Red Cross brought students practical teaching and motivation, thanks to which he was born at the university of a local companion of the Red Cross, which brings together a group of volunteers - students and staff. By using experiential techniques of first aid education through model situations, this area gains many students who are aware of the need to repeat it through training on a regular basis. Thanks to precise practical and theoretical training, students can engage in various activities in practice, help with health surveillance or participate in the work of solving various tasks in emergencies, where the current pandemic covid - 19. First aid is not just one of subjects encountered by a person at a university or course before obtaining a driving license. Regular simulation of various situations with a focus on events in the firefighter's practice can better prepare the student for practice on trips, where first aid is the basis of cooperation with paramedics. Especially if the simulations take place in an informal environment, voluntarily, for students who want to study in their free time.
