Abstract:
Within the concept of rescue services, it is possible in the Slovak Republic to divide rescue services into two basic groups: professional units and voluntary units. The concept of training and education of professional units is strictly defined and adhered to. The training and education of voluntary fire brigades has only marginal conditions laid down by law and the content may vary. By changing the philosophy of protecting the population from fire and providing assistance to people in need, rescue services that do not have the knowledge, skills and competences for some types of rescue work have begun to be used to a large extent for rescue work - e.g. traffic accidents, fires in industrial plants and the like. The article deals with the methodology and appropriate ways of preparation and education of voluntary fire brigades for intervention for the needs of practice for selected types of voluntary fire brigades. It points to the need for training in the areas of unit training, intervention safety, procedures and coordination of forces and resources within the entire integrated rescue system, taking into account the real needs of practice.
