Abstract:

Considering the current safety and security situation in the world and new security threats, high-quality training of experts in the field of crisis management in order to expand their professional knowledge, skills and competences in assessing risks in different environments, managing preventive activities and eliminating the negative consequences of crisis phenomena is a necessity.

There are several traditional educational methods and tools that can be used to approach the environment associated with solving crisis phenomena, such as expert lectures, analysis of case studies, project exercises. However, all these options lack the factor of real threat and behaviour of the environment, which is an essential accompanying feature for decision-making in such specific situations.

In the article, the authors present the results of their own study of innovative educational tools (virtual, augmented and mixed reality) that enable decision-making in an environment simulating the action of a crisis phenomenon, where all activities are carried out in real time and with an immediate response to the action taken.
The authors also present the concept and results of a pilot project for the implementation of these innovative tools in the process of education and training of experts in the field of crisis management at the Faculty of Security Engineering of the University of Žilina in the Slovak Republic.
