Abstract:
Education in Slovakia is currently undergoing reform. Curriculum reform includes, in addition to the innovation of the content of education, the innovation of the evaluation of educational results through new methods of testing. One of them is the national criterion testing in mathematics for pupils in the 3rd and 5th grades of primary schools. The testing will focus on testing key literacy skills according to individual educational areas. The aim of the paper is to present the process of creating tasks/problems suitable for criterion tests for pupils of the 3rd grade of primary schools. We analyse the creation of test problems, the concept of criterion tests and the theoretical framework that provided the basic methodology for our research. We present findings from pilot testing on the tasks we selected and discuss student solutions. We statistically processed the selected tasks. When analysing the tasks, we focus on the difficulty, sensitivity, unsolvedness, success and suitability of the tasks for inclusion in the national criterion test.
