Abstract:
Internet has been widely used in society, and known to be beneficial and important in learning. However, lecturer should be able to select an appropriate method to use technology as a means for learning. Nursing school which involved cognitive, psychomotor and affective domains is still in progress in using technology in the learning. An e-learning was initially used in Pediatric Nursing subject together with class activities. Rules and contract of using this new method are explained in advance to make sure students understand the expected outcomes. Each student has their own username and password which enabled them to access and participated in the course activities such as course materials, group debates, assignment, feedback and announcement. From the student online track, most students rarely checked the online board with the highest rate was on the day before and after the class session. When a debate in groups was given, only a few students responded to it. As a result, interactive process among students cannot be achieved. Similar with that, assignment feedbacks were not checked by most students. A good improvement was seen in assignment submission as there was no student who submitted their work exceeds the due date. The evaluation at the end of the course showed that students found this new method as time consuming and needs more effort to keep updated with online activities. A good internet connection became a common complaint although an excellent connection is provided. Most students suggested the continuity of this program with the attention on the improvement of internet connection and time arrangement for all activities. Internal and external factors contributed to process of e-learning were also evaluated. Keywords:
