Abstract:
Critical thinking and problem solving are essential traits which describe as career attributes that should be acquired by Technical and Vocational Education (TVE) graduates to stay competitive in 21st century workforce. Thus, Malaysia government have move forward by planning and implementing both skills in its ongoing policy which emphasize within Malaysian Qualification Framework. Conversely, it may be difficult to make the most effective use of both skills in knowledge dissemination especially on pedagogical practices when there are limited and poor sources for educators to promote critical thinking and problem solving in students. This paper focuses on the ideas and strategies on how TVE educators in Malaysia can incorporate these two integral skills in achieving desired result for students’ critical thinking and problem solving acquisition. A guideline of teaching critical thinking and problem solving sequential process are suggested to be integrated in pedagogical practices more effectively and consistently. It is also to develop and improve deep understanding of TVE educators on definition, concept and the importance of these two essential skills in preparing their students for the world of work.
