Abstract:
The aim of this study consists in performing a comparative analysis of the evaluation system of in-service teachers from Romania and Cyprus. We analyze the main issues and concerns related to the evaluation criteria of in-service teachers in Romania and Cyprus in connection to the educational policies in the European and international context. An ascertained study in the context of Romanian education system is presented to highlight the statistical data from the last years in terms of results obtained by in-service teachers at the national exam for filling a teaching position. Then the results obtained as such are compared with the context of in-service teacher’s evaluation in Cyprus. After the comparative analysis of research results, there are discussed the similarities and differences regarding the evaluation criteria of teachers from the two educational systems. In conclusion there are presented the main problems identified in this domain and there pertinent solutions and future directions of research are offered to improve the evaluation system of continuous teachers training.
