Abstract:
The aim of this study consists in identifying the main effects of curricular innovations for preparing pre-service language teachers. The effects are analyzed and described according to two perspectives: the specific approach based on the development of pedagogical competences and the general perspective focused on the different aspects involved in preparing pre-service language teachers (administrative organization, institutional policies, professional development). After identifying these aspects at a theoretical level, an innovative grid was designed, with real impact upon the language teachers and stakeholders in this domain. We have also achieved an observational study that consists in the application of a questionnaire to 95 students from initial training programmes for language teachers of Romanian university education. The research results contribute to the representation of the impact of curricular innovations proposed in terms of developing pedagogical competences. Thus, as part of larger project in which we propose a model for developing future language teachers’ pedagogical competencies, this study insists on identifying and understanding the effects that every measure, method or policy applied during the initial training stage might have in the practice of the first years of a beginner teacher’s career. The study was unfolded in CNCSIS – TE 282/July 2010 “INOVACOM – Curricular innovations for the development of the pedagogical competences of teachers of Romanian Language and communication through initial training programmes for teachers”.
