Abstract:
An educational project organized primarily by undergraduate students studying English language, education and intercultural communication at a Japanese university features local community involvement, international language and culture exchange. The project entails the collection and exhibition of art, photographs and viewpoints of elementary school students in Japan and abroad and is organized in conjunction with staff members of schools in several countries and in conjunction with lifelong learning students in Japan. The project shows promise as a model for positively implicating academic study into the community at large and for encouraging inter-generational and inter-cultural communication.
