Abstract:
Competence-oriented teaching and learning has become a part of almost all modern curriculums. Various teams have worked on the development of competence profiles for their subjects and evaluated methods to educate these profiles. In this contribution, the focus is on the methodology and time requirements to assess subject matter competencies for Software Engineering as well as non-subject-matter competencies.

Research Question:
Parameters have to be defined to allow for a transparent qualification of competencies. Data has to be acquired during lectures to be used for later analysis. These data sets have to be analysed to allow for a transparent grading during the course for immediate feedback or at the end of the course for grading. In our research we focus on time requirements for lectures.

Methodology:
We have selected three main competencies from a generalized set of 64 competencies. For these competencies, a grading scheme is developed. Then, this scheme is applied for competency assessments and time requirements calculation.

Results:
In our paper we will discuss results based on practical experiences. Solution approaches are offered to handle the time requirements for deep competence assessment.
Keywords:
Competence Evaluation, Best-practice Competence Assessment.
