Abstract:
In today´s society, organisations are constantly focusing on increasing their efficiency and success rate. For the employers, assets are no longer the most important resource, yet employees: their knowledge, skills and capabilities are. Satisfied and motivated employees can ensure an organisation´s competitiveness, efficient operations and long-term prosperity. Knowing the factors that affect employees´ satisfaction and performance allows organisations to set up a flexible system taking into account the diversity in the workplace. An incentive system can contribute to development of employees and to exploiting their potential with regard to their personal and professional interests. It is crucial to consider that employees´ attitudes and interests may change, therefore it is vital to continuously monitor employees´ motivation and satisfaction and update the existing incentive system in the organisation based on the results. Among the various motivational factors that may affect employees, this article focuses precisely on education. The reason for choosing the topic is that the work performance is largely influenced by lifelong learning. The research is carried out by a questionnaire survey. The goal of the paper is to find out how employees of self-governing region offices perceive the possibility of education and the importance of education in their motivation. Also, the paper points out other motivational factors that affect employees of self-governing region offices in the Slovak Republic. Keywords:
