Abstract:
The employment of graduates in practice requires increasing demands on education. In 2021, a process of comprehensive accreditation began in Slovakia, within which universities are introducing an internal quality system and modifying existing study programs in order to guarantee higher quality education, but also better employability of graduates in the labour market. The choice of the right subject composition and forms of education should ensure that the knowledge and skills acquired during their studies prepare students for the required profession and adjust them to the needs of lifelong learning. In every area of education, there is a shift from the content of education to the results of education, i.e. to acquire the knowledge, skills and competences necessary to perform a particular task, activity or set of activities in a given profession. The education of experts within the Crisis Management study program at the Faculty of Security Engineering of the University of Žilina must not be an exception. In the article, the authors compare the subject structure of the existing and planned study programme. The main emphasis will be on the subjects, in which students acquire the competencies, knowledge and skills needed to perform the profession in the field of security, civil protection and crisis management in municipalities. Thanks to them, it is possible for future crisis managers to be able to improve the quality of life of the inhabitants of municipalities from the point of view of security.
