Abstract:
The events of recent months have exposed the population to new challenges and have tested our preparedness in various areas of everyday life. Education is one of the areas that was significantly affected. From day to day, thousands of teachers and millions of students, and their parents had to become experts in distance education and learning systems and technologies. Distance learning was inseparable part of the teaching process also in the past but personal consultations, lectures, or field exercises are considered as irreplaceable. Thus teachers/lecturers had to look for new ways how to remotely attract students and explain the issues as clearly as possible. They could choose from relatively large amounts of applications and platforms that offered interactive and non-interactive options of education. It caused the first problem: teachers/lecturers and students prefer different applications. Another and much more serious problem was that relatively large groups of the population have no or only weak Internet coverage, or they do not own personal computers. The aim of the article is to characterise the possibilities, forms, and ways of distance learning and to point out the problem areas to which was population faced related to the change from face to face to remote learning. Available sources of information will be supplemented by the experience of teachers in the field of the safety and the security issues. Keywords:
