Abstract:
Development of teaching materials is a very complex problem. A variety of technologies makes it even more challenging. It is not easy to choose the right way to explain some theoretical concepts and show practical demonstrations of solutions of some programming problems, on the other hand a lot of online courses in this aria already exist. In this paper one solution for development of multimedia materials for distance learning of basics of programming in VB.Net is presented. Applied technologies, as well as used methodology applied in creation of materials are described as well as the other activities performed on this online course held in The School of Electrical and Computer Engineering of Applied Studies in Belgrade. Created materials are compared to other existing materials for learning of same topics available on Internet and results of students questionnaire concerning developed materials and other aspects concerning course organization are presented and analyzed. Challenges in performing distance learning courses in field of programming are also presented, along with course success statistics and example course layout.
