Abstract:
In this paper, we share our experience in using an educational platform for on-demand video streaming. The platform was developed for the purposes of the Faculty of Physics and Technology of Plovdiv University "Paisii Hilendarski" to support online learning during the COVID pandemic. The software is developed in JAVA programming language, MySQL database, and with a usage of Spring Framework, which is an open-source framework for building Java web applications. HTML, CSS, Javascript, and Bootstrap are used for user interface design. The platform has been developed according to the demands of educators in our faculty for secure integration of video media into their online courses. They can upload, share educational video content (prerecorded lectures or instructional videos) with their students and assign additional tasks concerning the videos. Using the platform, students can search for and view uploaded video content in the courses they can access. This paper focuses on the platform's architecture, functionalities and application possibilities as a supplementary learning tool in traditional face-to-face education.
