Abstract:
Climate change is one of the major threats of the 21st century and because of this climate science should be considered a main topic in the better knowledge of our world. Despite its importance, the climate sciences study does not receive much attention in all education levels in Spain, being only considered as a secondary topic in some academic subjects. In this work, we present some of the experiments presented by ‘eXXperimienta en feminino’, an initiative project guided by women from the Campus of Ourense of the University of Vigo, in which non-university students can also participate, and that seeks to give visibility to climate science education through street exhibitions, and networks publications to students and public in general. The aim is also to promote the visibility of women in scientific disciplines and to motivate the future of new professionals in this field. The most important event takes place every year on the International Day of Women in Science in the city of Ourense. In these experiments, we teach and visually demonstrate the basic principles that explain the formation of phenomena such as a tornado, the formation of a cloud, and the effect of atmospheric pressure on a body, among others. To do so, we use simple materials and a dozen meteorological instruments learning the function of each one. Keywords:
