Abstract:
The paper is dedicated to the research of dependence in the chosen field of study at the difficulty of finding employment for university graduates. In this paper, we use for research purposes, the term of graduates at all high education levels(bachelor, master and doctoral students) who graduated not longer then till two years at the selected universities in Brno.

The Importance of this issue apparent from the current situation not only in Czech Republic, but the entire European labor market, where 12% of EU citizens which means that 27 million people cannot find proper employments. The category of university graduates creates a social group which can be marked as highly risky, due to the significant economical, psychological and sociological impact of unemployment on this category.

The work is based on the hypothesis that certain field of study are more requested on the Czech labor market than the others and thus an appropriate choice of discipline of study can influence the future career prospects of graduates. Through the survey research was investigated the significance of the chosen field of study of graduates on their employability, whether has been easier to find jobs for students in technical or economic disciplines, has been studied the relationship between the field of study and the period after which graduates looked for a job, the relationship between studied discipline and by the finding employment in that discipline they studied. To find the relationship was based on an analysis of contingency tables.
