Abstract:
Knowledge becomes an essential organizational driver and a key factor in value creation. Currently knowledge and work with them now represent the area through which businesses can obtain a competitive advantage. Increased focus must be placed on expanding the organizational knowledge base, either by learning from others or by creating new knowledge through innovation. Organisations can build their competitive advantage on corporate knowledge, knowledge that include best practises used in organisations and knowledge that represent the latest progress in the development of the area, in which organisation operates. Knowledge management helps organizations achieve deeper insight and understanding of the issues, especially based on the use their own experience, their own intellectual capital. Specific knowledge management activities help the organizations to focus on the acquisition, storage, sharing and use of knowledge in areas such as problem solving, dynamic learning, strategic planning, decision making. There was made a survey of the state of knowledge management in organizations in Slovak republic. The paper deals with some apects of the survey focused on the awareness of knowledge management in organizations. Keywords:
