Abstract:
The paper deals with the use of information - communication technologies as an irreplaceable factor in the educational process at universities. Through the internet and information technologies can be achieved fast access to new knowledge, increasing the availability of new information and finally eliminate computer illiteracy, which is for university students almost inevitable. The paper describes the development of academic information systems that support education at the University of Žilina since 1996, analyzes the issue of e-learning as a progressive form of education for the University of Žilina, current state of the use of e-learning systems and compares synchronous and asynchronous e-learning.
The paper analyzes approaches to teaching applications in electronic form, electronic communication between teachers and students, the creation and distribution of educational materials and multimedia elements such as classrooms and didactic technique.
There are presented the results of research using e-learning form of education at the University of Žilina and evaluated the quality and level of e-learning from the student perspective in next part of the paper.
