Abstract:
Currently, in most developed countries, informatics (computer science) is already taught in the first grade of elementary school. The subject Informatics and established standards in the form of requirements for the level of knowledge of students is a part of the state educational programs of primary schools. The name of the subject may be different. In addition to informatics, we can also find names such as computing, computer science, information education, information literacy, digital literacy and others. The content of education is approximately the same in all countries, and the main goal and mission of this subject is to build solid foundations and develop digital and information literacy of students. Critical, logical, algorithmic and programming thinking, information and digital culture can be found everywhere as the main component of these literacies.

Primary school teachers teach according to the national curriculum, which is a binding document along with the relevant standards and methodological guidelines. Therefore, in every country the development of the national curriculum is given special attention and is approached with particular responsibility. Experts and specialists in both the subject and the educational field are entrusted with the task of drawing up educational programmes.

In accordance with the state educational program, schools prepare their school educational programs, where they elaborate in detail how they want to achieve the set educational goals, what teaching methods they will apply and what educational technologies they will use. The authors report on their experiences of training a new generation of primary school teachers who are supposed to provide the teaching of the subject of informatics at the prescribed level. They also write about the fact that it was necessary to revise the study programs of teacher training, to change the content of many standard and traditional subjects and to include new subjects. New teacher preparation study programs had to be developed and accredited for the reasons that fresh graduates of teacher training program come into practice ready to handle the education of the current digital generation on a high level.
