Abstract:
The paper deals with the development of digital skills and digital competences of future teachers as part of their university training. The main attention is paid to modern educational technologies, school information systems, web and distance technologies, educational portals, virtual and augmented reality, shared laboratories, virtual educational space and the like, which are often absent in teacher training study programs at universities. In the university training of primary and secondary school teachers sufficient attention is paid to the use of classic teaching technologies, technical and digital devices for didactic purposes, teaching using a computer, using commercial interactive teaching software and the creation of own didactic applications for presenting teaching material, for practicing and testing knowledge. For this purpose, a subject called ICT in education was included in the general pedagogical-psychological and didactic module of the study program. The small scope and low hourly allowance of the subject not allow dealing with the issue more deeply.

The prerequisite for the effective use of digital technologies in schools is that teachers have access to the necessary technical equipment and have a sufficient level of digital literacy and competence to operate and use them in teaching. Distance education in primary and secondary schools during the COVID-19 coronavirus pandemic showed that teachers are not prepared to use modern educational technologies they do not have sufficient knowledge of the possibilities and functions of video-conferencing systems, school information systems and digital communication systems. They do not know all their functions and use them only rarely. They are also little known platforms that support distance learning and are suitable for teaching in primary and secondary schools. The article contains a proposal for new subjects for the inclusion of relevant thematic units in teacher study programs, including their practical use within the mandatory pedagogical practice of future teachers.
