Abstract:
The paper deals with the development of the digital skills and digital competencies of future teachers in the university training programmes. In teacher training programmes in Slovakia, enough attention is paid to the use of educational technologies, modern technology and technical equipment, computer-assisted teaching to use commercial interactive educational software, educational portals, and to create their didactic applications for presenting the subject, practising and testing knowledge. A prerequisite for the effective use of digital technologies in schools presupposes that teachers have access to the necessary technical equipment and technologies and have a sufficient level of digital literacy and competence to operate and use them.
Teachers have at their disposal several interactive tools for creating didactic applications in which they will learn to work skilfully. All teaching aids and educational technologies used are aimed at increasing the effectiveness of the full-time form of teaching. Distance learning in primary and secondary schools during the COVID-19 coronavirus pandemic has shown that teachers do not have sufficient knowledge of the possibilities of school information systems and platforms that support distance learning, suitable for teaching in primary and secondary schools – i.e. during compulsory schooling. The article contains a proposal for the inclusion of relevant thematic units in the subjects of teacher training programs, including their practical use in the compulsory pedagogical practice of future teachers. Keywords:
