Abstract:
Homemade music instruments are known in music practice worldwide. In the pedagogical activity of the authors the elaboration and application of these instruments is considered in terms of non-formal education, as a part of experimental pedagogical practice in music education.

The global pandemic has irreversibly changed the pedagogical paradigm. In the conditions of online learning, the lack of opportunity for in person practice with students and the idea of self-production of musical instruments allowed students to get a clearer awareness of the sound qualities of various materials from the reality around us.

The music theory and practice take a particularly important place in the education of students in pedagogical specialties. For example, one of the main activities is playing of musical instruments for children. This activity is one of the most desired in the teaching of music to children and pupils and students, and is also a major source of information about the form, type, way of playing and performance of each of the musical instruments. In the Bulgarian comprehensive education system a special place is given to percussion instruments with indefinite pitch.

The development of homemade music instruments as a specific experimental practice was realized within a creative project as part of the students' curriculum. Realization of the tasks, the creative decisions of the students, including both video and audio materials, as well as specific methodological steps for application are included in this article.
The students-pedagogues, as well as participants in the Music Club "Affect" at the University of Ruse realized an exhibition and demonstration of homemade instruments in front of an academic audience, which was received positively and with great interest.
