Abstract:
Education is a long-term process designed to shape a person according to predefined standards, ideas and convictions shared by a society. It is a process of conveying knowledge and skills to another person that enable him/her to live a meaningful life. The process should stimulate cognitive curiosity leading the person to further development and implementation of individual goals and fulfilment of specific opportunities in time and space.
A smart city is a space fitted with information and communication technologies (ICT) that enables to create a digital dimension of the reality and enhanced level of interaction, or collaboration between components of urban infrastructure and users. Additionally, a smart city is the investment in a society and human capital designed to promote sustainable economic growth, development of transport and proper management of natural resources. For this reason, education, training and development of desired attitudes are crucial for the implementation of the electromobility policy in contemporary cities and agglomerations.
Main objectives of the paper is to make transport system users aware of barriers related to the use of vehicles with conventional propulsion and educate them in the use of alternative energy sources in transport. This translates into the use of such solutions in everyday life by changing habits and trends in travelling. Knowledge of recommended behaviour, as well as minor and simple modification of current behaviour is capable of producing a major transformation.
The article, as a part of the methodology, presents issues related to education of local authorities in electromobility. In basic terms, the goal is to shift from fossil fuels to alternative energy sources. The raising of awareness is presented as the effect of the ET Sys application. The tool, which supports electromobility services, has been developed under the ERANET CoFund Programme by an international team of researchers from such countries as Poland, Bask Country (Spain), the Netherlands and Hungary.
Summarising, the change of previous behaviour by education local authorities can be achieved, among others, by determining of optimised locations for electric vehicle charging stations. The ET Sys is going to promote modes transport using alternative fuels, and the ICT solution will generate enhanced awareness of electromobility. Keywords:
