Abstract:
Rapid technological change is affecting the way people work and do business. Technological progress is happening faster than ever. Companies and employees need to keep pace with new tools and technologies, which requires regular training. The nature of many jobs is changing, creating a need for new digital skills. People will need vocational training to transition to new forms of employment. Companies will need to invest in education to ensure their employees are sufficiently digitally literate. Moreover, with the growing number of remote workers and the globalization of work, there is a need to develop new methods and tools for training to ensure effective and efficient training of employees, while with the development of personalized technologies, training programs can be adapted to individuals to acquire the necessary skills for their specific tasks. As part of our research, we addressed a sample (n=1144) of subjects operating in the economic area of Central Europe. The research tool used to assess readiness was a questionnaire survey focused on the perspectives of human resource management amid ongoing digital transformation in businesses. The data collection and distribution tool included the Google Forms platform. The questionnaire was distributed by personally contacting the HR person in charge, either physically or by phone, followed by an email link. Data collection occurred throughout 2020. Business representatives participating in the survey reported on the importance for the future of businesses and the current application/presence of the phenomenon in business practice. Ratings were on a scale from 1 to 5, with 1 being the lowest level of achievement or future relevance, and 5 the highest. The questionnaire contained questions specifically targeting modern tools and concepts in human resource management related to the advent of Industry 4.0. We managed to identify the current readiness of companies for ongoing trends and characterize the expected changes in the forms and content of education in their context. The study indicates a significant and positive correlation between the implementation of the analyzed tools and concepts in the enterprises and their perceived importance for the future of these businesses.
