Abstract:

Recently several advanced classroom technologies emerge (e.g. interactive whiteboard, learner response systems, sound amplification). Among them, interactive whiteboards has become widely used in classroom education, especially in primary and secondary education. A simple definition defines interactive whiteboard as a large interactive display that connects to a computer and projector. A projector projects computer desktop onto the board surface, where users control the computer usually with using pen. Within the problematic of using interactive whiteboard in education process (at least) two important aspects (and/or issues) must be addressed: (1) the readiness of teachers to use interactive whiteboard in education process; and (2) the readiness of pupils to participate in education process supported with interactive whiteboard. In Slovenian education practice (i.e. primary and secondary schools) the readiness of pupils to use interactive whiteboard has not yet come to the question, since teachers almost exclusively use interactive whiteboard by there self, mainly due to the early stage of implementation of interactive whiteboards into the education process. The paper provides an insight into the problematic of pupil’s readiness to participate in education process supported with interactive whiteboard. For the purpose of our discussion we did a survey among pupils at Slovenian secondary school who participate in education process supported with interactive whiteboard.
