Abstract:
In accordance with Industry 4.0 concept, the construction industry is a wide and perspective space for use of the latest knowledge, trends and technologies in the field of intelligent and Smart&Safe solutions. One of the areas where it is desirable to use these innovative approaches is area of digitization and automation of construction related to the design of a smart construction site.

Each construction site is unique. Moreover, construction site is dynamic and complex environments, making them difficult to control and monitor. At present, it is appropriate that the design of the construction site be supported by elements of virtual reality. Construction site design is an integral part of the training of future civil engineers.

The aim of the paper is to point out the possibilities of using virtual reality in the design of the safe construction site and its subsequent use in education proces of students at Faculty of civil engineering, Technical university of Košice. The solution of the problem will consist in the analysis and synthesis of the construction sites activities and conditions; objects of the construction site equipment for operational, production and social purposes; their mutual interaction in the constructional, technological, time but especially spatial and safety point of view; and legislative and standard requirements. The results of the research will be implemented in the virtual reality (VR) environment. VR provides space for modeling the conditions of the construction site, designing the location and dimensioning the objects of the construction site equipment in the educational process. The paper presents the resulting application for the design of the construction site, especially from a safety point of view. Smart&Safe construction site solution is processed in newly developed a universally compatible, cooperating virtual environment, regarding to the latest trends in the field of construction site conditions and information technology. Application can be used by any smartphone or tablet without the need to install additional software support, thus promoting M-learning education.
