Abstract:

Life learning is a cycle in which individuals improve their personal and academic skills. People learn, unlearn and re-learn in this process. If they are supported in this life long learning process, they shall be successful individuals in their personal and academic life. Goverments or academiciencs can contribute to the learning and socialization process of these individuals. These two dimensions of life long learning can be developed with outdoor libraries which are situated in everyday life contexts of individuals. In Turkey, as one of the developing countries in the world, we have a proposed a pilot project application of outdoor library, which will be supported by three European countries, to Turkish National Agency. This library shall be a Q Type Dwelling where people can dwell upon academic, personal, social, cultural, international and political issues. Our outdoor Q type library will provide the people with an outdoor discussion and reading place where learning is motivated and enabled. It will be refractive & reflective (Medeni, 2012) learning space, where freedom of thought and expression is supported. In this study, we will discuss the aims and outcomes of our pilot project
