Abstract:
This paper presents the main results of a general study about ICT in vocational teaching, mainly its representations and use by teachers in the classroom. There were 32 semi-directed interviews conducted to teachers from the sociocultural, scientific and technical components of vocational courses that are related to ICT from four different schools in the country. The aim was to understand the way teachers integrate ICT in the teaching and learning process, so as to contribute to the preparation of students for a society which is more informed and has more knowledge, as well as to help them enter the job market.

The main results of this study indicate that teachers understand the importance of using ICT and are making an effort to integrate them in the teaching and learning process, however not efficiently. Teachers encounter obstacles which make it difficult to broaden and diversify contents pertaining to the potential technology has to offer. Teachers are lacking an extra effort to consolidate their training in ICT which will allow them to increase their confidence about using ICT and thus benefiting with that in the transmission of knowledge.
