Since humans interact daily with the environment is necessary to discover in it, the "mathematical and scientific knowledge that it hides: shapes, sizes, dimensions, approaches, relationships... we can count, measure, assemble, compare ... For over half a century the teaching of mathematics and science have become a global concern. This problem has given rise to a large number of studies and projects. In this particular case, a study of the formation of basic education teachers in Mexico.
It is clear that the training needs of our teachers today to teach science and mathematics, requires not only the will to carry out the process. Accurate promote basic education teachers, a new vision and a new attitude towards learning and teaching science and mathematics through a quality academic preparation so that new generations understand better the changing world around them and teach them the principles, structures and relationships that apply to the problems in the classroom and in everyday life, developing a mindset that allows them to explain situations that occur in different environments, and use appropriate techniques for posing and solving problems
The proposed scientific and mathematical training of teachers for basic education involves deformation, reconstruct, reform, correction and rectification of practical thought and action to improve the quality of teaching-learning process.
The Mexican Academy of Sciences since 2002 launched the program in your school Science (LCEE) aimed at teachers of basic education (primary and secondary education) aimed at improving teachers' attitudes towards science and mathematics and updating knowledge in these disciplines to raise their teaching. Since 2009 the diploma LCEE began teaching at a distance, the observations made in the pilot phase are the subject of this study.
