Abstract:
Recognizing talent at school and being able to support it represents an emerging research interest in the Italian context in recent years. Among the forms of giftedness on which school identification tools concentrate, there is certainly the logical, mathematical, humanistic and artistic one, while little space has been devoted to the sporting sphere and currently, in Italy, there is no precise identification tool for teachers in both primary and secondary schools. The Italian survey, albeit with a small preliminary sample, presents the validation and adaptation process of the Scale for Identification of Sport Potential (SISP) (Platvoet et al., 2015), already validated in Spain (Prieto-Ayuso et al., 2022), through observations conducted on a group of students from two primary school classes. Following previous investigations (Sorrentino 2022), the Italian instrument has three more items than the original version with twenty-seven items. The correlational analysis allows us to detect the concurrent validity of the Italian scale and the results are encouraging. Future studies with a larger and more diversified sample would make it possible to carry out an analysis such as to define more clearly the items to be considered in the Italian version of the scale. Keywords:
