Abstract:
Balanced Scorecard in Academic Institutions is increasingly gaining its popularity because of its applicability. The purpose of this study is to come up with a preliminary framework of an academic scorecard for nursing educational institutions in the Philippines through an integrative literature review using Cooper’s Methodology. The objectives of this article are three fold: (1) What Key Result Areas (KRA’s) may be identified in the development of a Preliminary Framework of an Academic Scorecard? (2) What Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s) can be utilized in the development of a Preliminary Framework of an Academic Scorecard? (3) What Emergent Balanced Academic Scorecard may be proposed as functional benchmark for Nursing Educational Institutions in the Philippines? Of the 775 articles generated with the search strategy, the sample initially consisted of 17 articles. The utilization of PQRS Framework yielded six (6) as the final sample. These were composed of conceptual and theoretical studies. The total six (6) samples were all studies relating to BSC applications and utilizations in academic institutions. The review had categorized the studies into six major theme headings: Year and Study Location, Purpose, Data Collection Method, Key Result Areas and Key Performance Indicators with similarities and differences as variables for synthesis. There were four (4) emergent perspectives or Key Result Areas (KRAs) and fifty five (55) Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) derived from the commonalities of the six sample studies.
