Abstract:
Providing high quality of education is one of the most important prerequisites for educating professionals in a particular area. Colleges and universities in Slovakia must create conditions for their graduates to be interested in the labor market. However, the problem for many universities is to attract high-quality students to study the study programs they offer. This problem stems from the decrease in the number of applicants for study due to the negative demographic development of the society, but also from several education providers. In the context of current escalating security incidents in the world, it is essential to train and educate security management specialists. Their scope to the labor market is broad, with the basic aim of protecting people and property at national and international level. The aim of the paper is to highlight the motivation of security management students to study this specific area. Motivation is studied on the basis of a survey of these students. The results of the survey can be used to improve the quality of education in the area of the security management and to increase the number of quality candidates to study this area.
