Abstract:

The prerequisite for the development of society is to educate people, which is primarily provided through schools and other educational institutions. Education and raising awareness in specific areas is also provided by institutions which do not primarily serve that purpose. These are, for example, public organizations, non-profit organizations, professional chambers, various foundations and other institutions established by public authorities. Education in the field of the protection of persons and property is one of the tasks that fall under municipal police authority. As a part of crime prevention, members of the municipal police give professional lectures and perform activities for the highest-risk population groups, especially children, adolescents and the elderly. The aim of this paper is to analyze the local security environment and prevention activities carried out by a selected city and identify shortcomings in the protection of life, health and property of senior citizens. The result of this paper is a proposal of measures which would improve the process of further safety education of seniors.
