Abstract:
Are we playing or learning? Can we do both at the same time? Digital era put on a new methodology of learning and created a new sort of learners.

Educational institutions are providing modular online courses in order to follow the needs of learning processes. A common goal, making the user more engaged in online course is transforming courses which are becoming game-based and they all have the same final goal – a diploma.

Faculty of Philology (University of Belgrade) with 3 minds involved has developed courses for learning Serbian as a foreign language. Through this presentation authors will show examples of learning a new language in a virtual environment, suitable for all ages, developed for Moodle platform and available all around the world. Courses are game-based and topic oriented, self paced with learning guides, flash cards and hidden games.

Various exercises and weekly tests with vocabulary and other activities are standard part of typical courses. Most of them are audio/video supported with grammar fully oriented to video. Interactivity is reaching currently known maximum. These methods of learning with games can contribute to effectively overcome courses and bypassing dropouts as a big minus of full online courses.
