Abstract:
We are on the threshold of a technological revolution that will fundamentally change the way we live, work and communicate with each other. To its scale and complexity, this transformation will be as fundamental to humanity as any other technological change in the past. We do not know how it will develop, but one thing is clear: the response to it must be integrated and comprehensive, involving all stakeholders on a global basis, from the public to the private sector, academia and civil society. The fourth industrial revolution, also known as Industry 4.0, can be called the digital revolution, which dates back to the middle of the last century. Industry 4.0 is a concept that resonates more and more in society. Industry 4.0 is the name of the fourth industrial revolution. The aim of this revolution is to drastically increase industrial productivity, improve communication and bring about significant changes in the industry. Industry 4.0 is changing the construction sector. New innovative technologies, materials, products and methods are being introduced in the sector, which change the way of planning, management, implementation and control of individual processes across the life cycle of buildings. The paper analyses the changes in the method and methods of teaching at the Faculty of Civil Engineering of the Technical University in Košice due to Industry 4.0. The Fourth Industrial Revolution affects all aspects of society, not excluding the educational process. The article analyzes how, as a result of the Fourth Industrial Revolution, the teaching methods at the Faculty of Civil Engineering in Košice changed. The paper analyzes the curriculum, teaching methods, the nature of tools and their use in selected professional subjects in two periods, specifically before the fourth industrial revolution -Industry 4.0- and after it is gradually introduced and implemented in the educational process. The mentioned periods are compared in terms of the content of the curriculum, methods or the method of teaching and the overall change in the goals and benefits that the taught subjects bring to the practice and professional growth of students.
