Abstract:
The article is a summary of experience with the design and innovation of curricula for the subject Basics of Manufacturing Technology, but also with its teaching in times of crisis. This study subject belongs to the basic subjects of education in the field of mechanical engineering. First-year students acquire the basics of technical thinking and communication in the design and solution of technical problems. The current situation required the Curriculum Design and Innovation. Several goals were pursued: adapting the subject curriculum to the needs and possibilities of distance education, including current trends in engineering in teaching, motivating students and keeping them interested in the subject throughout the semester and preparing them sufficiently for the exam and further study. The aim was also to eliminate the language barrier. The study is conducted in Slovak language, but almost 50% of students come from Ukraine. In a short time, they are forced to adapt not only to the conditions of university study but also to the new environment, communication in a foreign language, to manage quarantine and many other problems. The article presents an evaluation of the teaching process and the achieved study results. In addition to the evaluation of teachers, the article also deals with the results of a survey of students' opinions and experiences, which was carried out in the form of a questionnaire.
