Abstract:
Top Russian universities which are participating in “Project 5-100” face certain challenges connected with creating and developing a polylingual educational background which will contribute to increasing the number of publications in international journals, designing educational products in English for attracting both international students and academics, and in addition enhancing students and academics’ mobility. The implementation and adaptation of best international educational practices helps to develop the professional competences of university academics both in the field of teaching in English and in developing educational courses which comply with modern international standards. The experience gained by TPU and the University of Southampton in implementing joint educational programmes since 2012 allows them to fulfill the tasks stated in the Strategic Programme of National Research Tomsk Polytechnic University Competitiveness Enhancement in the Group of Top Level World Research and Academic Institutions, and to take into account the requirements of content teachers who are delivering or plan to deliver classes in English, as well as to focus on designing educational courses in English for master degree, bachelor degree and double degree programmes.
