Abstract:
In the study the formation of speech communication of foreign students majoring in Engineering is considered from the perspectives of communicative skills maturity. The analysis of the theory of speech communication, the difficulties associated with the process of teaching speech communication (linguistic, sociolinguistic, ethno cultural, discursive and social ones) among foreign students and a description of methods to overcome them in the context of training foreign students are described in this article. For this group of students, the formation of communicative competence is the key goal of the learning process and to successful social and educational adaptation, the productivity of educational activities in the host country. The article discusses the features of the process of formation of speech communication, for example, the impossibility of implementing the methodological principle of reliance on the mother tongue in the educational activities of students of a foreign language culture in the host country, as well as the difficulty of predicting possible difficulties associated with the phenomenon of interlanguage interference. The paper presents the results of diagnosing the readiness of foreign students to speech communication. We studied such characteristics of speech communication as basic, reflecting the content of communication ( greeting; farewell; appeal; request for support, help, service; supporting; assistance; service; gratitude; refusal; forgiveness) and procedural ones, providing communication as procedural (the ability to analyze the situation of communication from the point of view of the feelings and states of partners, the effects they produce; speak to the audience; listen to others; collaborate; manage (command); obey).

The authors suggested some methodological experience in the process of teaching speech communication to foreign students majoring in Engineering. The training process is proposed to be divided into stages of diagnosis, group work, behavior strategies through the creation of problem situations, the practical implementation of the acquired knowledge in the language of training of the host country.
